Positive experience: Polite and helpful service from my consultant. However, I got the feeling he was in training. Nothing wrong with that, but it might have engendered more confidence in House of Travel if this had been made overt, with a more experienced consultant visibly overseeing the process.

Fantastic experience: I received a lovely welcome from Monique on arrival to House of Travel. She listened to my requirements and offered welcome advice. Our recommendation was completed while in the agency which I didn't expect. When we needed changes to our recommendation Monique completed these very promptly and we have always had great communication with her. Will definitely work with Monique again and recommend to friends. All in all a wonderful experience.

Even when she's not in the office, Harrie to took over, he also provided the same brilliant service. Their communication is always prompt, not pushy but patient when we are waking up to our minds. Fantastic experience: Kia Ora, I recently made an enquiry with House of Travel regarding special advertised airfares that they were promoting. After calling the 0800 number specified, I spoke with Monique McKechie at the Nelson House of Travel Branch. Although I live in Hawkes Bay, we discussed the travel plans that interested me. Monique’s interpersonal skills were exemplary. She provided (via email) the relevant information that I required in a very timely and efficient manner, she also provided me with a variety of travel date options. As I did not initially respond to her correspondence, she contacted me some days later and asked if I required further information. She also advised me that the promotional deal that I was interested in was about to end. Fantastic experience: Carmel organized our 88 day Europe and Ireland adventure recently, we outlined to her what we wanted and welcomed her professional input. Fantastic experience: It was a cold, wet mid winter afternoon and after having spent two days trying to find the best deals and connections for my return trip to Spain, I was passing the House of Travel and on a whim decided to compare what they could do with what I had already found. Although Harrie was already busy with something, he looked up immediately upon my entrance and smiled. Nodded that he'd only be a minute or so and invited me to sit. I was on crutches at the time and he made the whole experience one of the most easily achievable and non-hurried experiences of the day, let alone, week, even offering me a water as I must have looked quite harried (no pun intended). Even though it was in the last hour of the business day, not once did I feel rushed to make a decision and Harrie calmly repeated what I needed calmly even sharing his screen so I could view the whole trip from start to finish and compare what we had found. He was a dream to work with AND found flights with less stopover time and cheaper than anything I had found on-line. Without hesitation, I confirmed the booking and paid on the spot as I could see his own personal knowledge showed and I knew I wouldn't be able to get any better. Thank you for taking the stress out of my birthday adventure! Now all I have to do is focus on enjoying myself.

She was very positive and friendly, quick to understand my preferences, available straight away, and we almost got everything booked in one sitting. The one thing that couldn't be done then and there was out of Monique's control, and it only took a day before that was also sorted and everything was booked. It was great!

Positive experience: Easy to deal with, got the advertised deal thati wanted. The Grabone deal didn’t clearly note that the price was FROM, so I paid slightly more than which was still within my budget.

Negative experience: Worst Travel Agent ever Harrie Van Den Berg, of House of Travel Nelson, stay far, far away. Do not use him. Save yourself headaches and screw ups. 3 couples used him for hotels etc. Nothing was correct including one no reservation on a full hotel. They use Expedia to book and charge us. Word to wisebook yourself.

Fantastic experience: Monique at House of Travel Nelson has been nothing short of amazing. She is patient and helpful, and very easy to work with! She was able to assist me in booking my first holiday and get me on the same flights and accommodation as other family and has really made this first time overseas holiday a breeze to organize. I would highly suggest that if it’s your first time traveling overseas, speak with Monique as she will settle any nerves you have and is incredibly patient with any amount of questions you ask!!!

Fantastic experience: Only place I’ve found that will exchange your currency outside the airport. No fee and reasonable exchange rate. Couldn’t believe how difficult it has been to find a place to exchange Australian since the banks stopped doing it. This place made it easy and the woman was friendly and helpful. In and out quickly. Couldn’t ask for more…unless they want to give more money, ‍♂️

Negative experience: I don’t often write reviews but the RUDEST experience with a young guy, brown hair. Refused to look at all my options or help me find an airport due to needing to layover due to a chronic health condition. “I’m not going to give you anymore options until you book otherwise I’m working for free”. Super nasty, would not go back, and will be going elsewhere. Would give a zero star review if I could.

Fantastic experience: First time for me to step into a travel agency. Only to book a flight back to my country, I thought why not check it out... I've met Sarah, great travel agent, super friendly and she's been really onto it! Loved my first experience with them!

Negative experience: Have used HOT in the past they were excellent, so decided to go into today to book a international flight. Service appalling, didn't even ask my name, sighed heavily when I asked for alternative options, failed to answer my questions, no engagement with me as a customer. Very disappointing, I left disillusioned and made other arrangements for my travel
