We were worried at how difficult it would be given that we had a child that was yet to be born, but would be coming with us by the time the holiday happened. Also, travelling across the date line. She made sure everything was booked smoothly and accurately. Holiday was fantastic, and we couldn't be more thankful for the work that Caitlin put in to make sure that it happened with no hiccups. Fantastic experience: When I entered the office she was the first to welcome me. She then listened to my ideas and gave me sound advice to confirm my booking. I had just got back to work when she rang me back with a quote. I also made a few changes to the booking which was never a problem and adjustments were made at the time. This is the first time I have used House of Travel and it won't be the last. I also now know if I come in early to pay the fairs, bring coffee lol.

Fantastic experience: 5 star service from Suzanne. She was very helpful through each step of the process of booking a family overseas holiday to Hawaii. Unfortunately we had to cancel the overseas holiday due to an unexpected illness. Suzanne was very helpful when dealing with the travel insurance company and airline due to the cancellation. We received all our money back for the cancelled holiday. We will definitely book another holiday with House of Travel again.

She gave us all the options and arranged flights from Palmy which saves us having to drive to wellington. Going to Fiji from Auckland now gives us more time at the resort as well. Negative experience: Learning my parents have been well over charged and not given all the info they needed for their first trip overseas in a decade, very disappointing and alarming. Charged nearly $1,500 more for flights and accomodation which we have since priced ourselves, is simply outrageous and then to not be given all the info they needed for the stay until it was too late to make changes, ie. not being made aware they can’t check in at their hotel, because it’s serviced apartments and they must lug their bags over 2km away to check in, simply poor service. Bonus points, my mother in law went here to get prices for palmy to Gold Coast and was told $1,500 return minimum - went online the same day and booked flights for under $900. Used to be an amazing place for travel advice and highly competitive, now there to extort. UPDATE: thanks for your reply, but it all sounds like dismissive retailer mentality. $4,700 for palmy to Gold Coast return and 6 nights accom is extortionate. And we checked the mother in laws flights the day she came to you and couldn’t find a single return fare even close to $1,500, the most expensive online was $1,200 for the exact same travel period provided to the staff member. Not that it matters, won’t be using HOT again anyway.

Fantastic experience: Spontaneously trip planned, and going to Suzanne HOT The Sqaure, everything was organised and paid for within 4 days. Hassle free and friendly service it was great. Now we can sit back and look forward to our trip.

Negative experience: No House of Travel store in our city. We booked a trip online and then had trouble getting our tickets etc. Drove an hour to try to talk to someone face to face and was told "online is online, we can't help you here" we just wanted help as communication via email with online House of Travel was not working for us. No other options offered from staff at store and was rudely spoken to. Shocked at how we were spoken to as current customers and potential future customers. Will never visit this store again and do not recommend it. Don't recommend online bookings either. 6 weeks out from an international trip and no help given. Took our money in a heartbeat then left us hanging trying to chase up someone to help.

Negative experience: Went to House of Travel and booked 2 connecting flights with my wife and I. Linley was rude to deal with and booked us separately in different seats for each flight despite the iterinary given. Fortunately the AirNZ team changed our booking on the day and put us together. I have another flight booked as well, hopefully if it goes well I can edit this review positively.

Negative experience: Totally unhelpful. I had a simple yes or no travel question regarding travel to Australia, and because I hadn't booked with them, they refused to answer it. Not sure at what point anyone walking through a door to a service provider had to qualify to have a question answered. Will be sure any future travel plans that will require an agent wont include them. Really poor customer service in a post COVID world when travel has been so badly affected.

Negative experience: This place is just not Okay and i really did Not want to pass it... for poor service. My friend and I went there to remit some money to a common friend we have over in the phillipines. My friend a 50 yr old man is not very confident in himself and that is why i went along to support him. There is this old dragon behind the counter or glass enclosure interrogating him and at some point even bullying him. He was close to tears and needless to say that our last remittance at the place which is on the edge of the garden and square. I think the post office will definitely give you a better service. The mini market shop in college street only open for 1 to 2 hours in the late afternoon and there is a nice man there.
