Fantastic experience: “Like many other couples planning an overseas trip this year (in our case to see a new granddaughter in England) our plans have been thwarted. So instead we planned a South Island road trip to see some of the places we have not been to before. Maria, from Harbour City Travel, has been invaluable in turning our plans into reality. We told her of the dates we wanted to travel, a number of places we wanted to include like Doubtful Sound, the Hermitage, white heron watching, Jackson Bay and others and she suggested a number of places we would not otherwise have thought of, all of which turned out to be excellent ideas. She arranged all the accommodation, tours, Interisland Ferry bookings, in fact every detail but also kept in close touch by ‘phone and e-mail to check it was what we wanted, And then the whole itinerary including maps for each days driving, and vouchers for tours and ferry etc. was loaded onto an app for our i-phone. Welcome to the new world of paperless travel! There was not one detail of the arrangements for our three-week tour which went wrong. Since returning we have had an extensive “debriefing” meeting with Maria to tell her in detail of our experiences, something we have not previously had with any travel advisor. With her extensive knowledge of domestic travel arrangements, we would not hesitate to use Maria’s expertise in planning another domestic trip. Admittedly Hokitika does not have quite the same ambience as London but New Zealand scenery is still world beating! David and Gabrielle Marshall”

Negative experience: My wife and I approached this firm in Feb 2019 to arrange a 6 week European tour in mostly France and Italy commencing late August. As many know these countries are extremely busy in during these periods and good places to stay need to be booked well in advance. Unfortunately our agent (Barbro) unbeknown to us went off on her own holiday overseas and never attempted to organize our accomadation. The agent did arrange our flights which were booked and paid for in February and we had good seats out but lousy seats back. I would not recommend this firm since their staff display a pretty low level of service and professionalism in my view. We never heard from the agent, she completely dropped the ball with us.

Fantastic experience: Their 24/7 service is for real. It started with Barbro still working at 1:30 am on Christmas day to secure a discounted river cruise deal that expired on 24 December. The next example was Maxine noticing we had missed flight connection (due to weather) and checking we were OK along with giving advice on rejoining our tour. the final example was being told by KLM late one evening in UK that our flight in 8 hours time was cancelled and they couldn't do anything to re-book us. Brydie came to the rescue using several phones at same time to resolve our problem resulting in us arriving at our next destination 7 hours ahead of our travelling companions who were organizing their own travel.
