Fantastic experience: Really enjoyed our fun and nerdy full day Lord of the Rings tour from Wellington. It was great to spend time with other fans and get photos at movie sites. Lunch at the Chocolate Fish was delicious. Learned a lot at Weta Studios. Our guide, Steve was warm and friendly - you could tell he was having fun too! Thank you for a great day.

Fantastic experience: We took the tour of the local Lord of the Rings filming locations, with a stop-off at Weta Workshop at mid-day. Kelvin did an absolutely magnificent job of showing us the sights and telling us about the background of each location. The whole experience was flawless from start to finish. A special shout-out to John Barry, who I believe owns Capital, for his help when we realized we had no idea who our tour operator was! I found him after a few phone calls to the wrong folks, and he was most gracious and reassuring when I explained our predicament.

Fantastic experience: We had a wonderful time on the Lord of the Rings tour with Kelvie! He was on time, great company, and incredibly knowledgeable about each area we visited. The tour was well organized, and we loved seeing the different filming locations — a must-do for any LOTR fan!

Fantastic experience: Steve, our driver, was great company and knowledgeable about the Wairarapa and the areas we were travelling through. The weather was cold and wet and sadly for us we missed some of the views but Steve's driving was excellent, despite the poor conditions. The wineries that were chosen for us were excellent as was the most amazing lunch platter at Poppies. If you are travelling to Wellington and have a day spare I could not think of a better way to spend it. I will be booking again on my next visit to Wellington.

Fantastic experience: Went on the Lord of the Rings tour and very well curated. Excellent spots and friendly and knowledgeable host. We both had a great time and if in Wellington I recommend you consider this tour.

Fantastic experience: We absolutely loved the experience we got with John! He was knowledgeable about the area and LOTR lore, a great driver, and accommodating. The only thing we would've changed was the timing. Lunch was a little late for us personally, and I think because it was our last main stop, we weren't offered the afternoon tea that was mentioned.

Fantastic experience: My review is a bit late, but as I was going through my photos it reminded me of what a fantastic day we had with Selwyn. He went out of his way to show us sights only my husband & i were interested in. He is such a personality & made our day. Fantastic experience: Husband and I visited New Zealand and went to Wellington first - this was the best tour we did! John was very knowledgeable and friendly, taking us everywhere we wanted and being flexible with the weather. The restaurant he took us to for lunch was very good as well, although I can't remember the name! Definitely recommend booking with him.

Fantastic experience: I had the great pleasure of taking a personalized half-day tour of Wellington CBD with John as my guide, and I had an absolutely wonderful time! He was very knowledgeable of the city sites and its detailed and fascinating history, and stories peppered with his delightful humor and friendly demeanor. The itinerary included many of the best spots in Wellington such as Mt. Victoria, Cable Car, Parliament, the Weta Workshop and Stone Street Studios, with beautiful drives in between through the windy roads and along the seaside. This was my third visit to NZ, and still learned so much on this tour, including some of the area's best places to eat and delve into the deliciously diverse cuisine of NZ. John went above and beyond to ensure I had a full and enjoyable VIP experience, and also drove me and my partner back to our home base, which saved us a long trip on the train. I highly recommend Capital Personalised Tours and will certainly book other tours with them in the future. Thank you so very much John!

Fantastic experience: My husband and I enjoyed a full day LOTR tour from Wellington with Robbie - it was incredible! Robbie was super friendly, funny, and knowledgeable. Fantastic experience: In April my wife and I were in Wellington and had limited time and wanted to see as much of the city as possible. John Barry picked us up at the ferry terminal and took as all around the city adjusting the tour to what we were interested in seeing. He then deposited us at our hotel. The tour was fabulous and achieved exactly what we wanted. I would highly recommend John to anyone wanting a more personalized tour of Wellington.

Negative experience: We express gratitude to the guide for their accommodation after our pick-up location confusion. It might be beneficial to reconsider the inclusion and bolding of the business address and do so to the pick-up location to prevent future misunderstandings. However, the tour fell short of expectations as it missed the Gardens of Isengard, no afternoon tea as advertised, and lacked exclusivity, with no distinct advantages over self-guided exploration. Despite a pleasant service, the price point ($310NZD/person) doesn't align with the offered experience. It might be more rewarding to explore independently, especially if you have access to a rental car (saving as much as $250NZD in our case).

Fantastic experience: When they say "Personalised," they mean it! We had an absolutely amazing day with Capital Personalised Tours! We chose "Private Martinborough Wine Full Day Tour From Wellington" because our family loves wine, but also because, although we love the Lord of the Rings, my mother has some mobility challenges that can make set tours difficult. However, after our driver, Andrew, met us at the cruise port and learned of our love of all things Tolkien, in addition to the wonderful wine tastings and lunch, he surprised us by taking us to some of the different movie set sights that mom could navigate. He stopped by the Helm's Deep quarry, the Isengard gardens, and we even walked through "Rivendell!" Lunch at Poppies was absolutely AMAZING and we had a wonderful time tasting and exploring the wines of New Zealand. (I'm now a fan of Chardonnay, which I never thought possible.) I just want to say that I can't thank Andrew and John enough for the wonderful experience they provided! We got to see and do things that simply wouldn't be possible with any other tour!

Fantastic experience: Absolutely perfect day sampling wines in and around Martinborough. Our guide, Liz was very knowledgeable and friendly. The perfect host. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone interested in wines or who want to sample Wellingtons best.

Fantastic experience: We did a full-day food and booze tour with Kelvin, who was such a great guide! He personalized the tour for us in so many ways and we had such a fun time. I thought the 7-hour duration would feel long but the day flew by. This tour and our time with Kelvin was definitely one of the most memorable parts of our two-week vacation.

Fantastic experience: As a mountain bike guide myself and my partner a wine guide, it was so nice to spend a day as a customer. We know what is expected of a guide and John fully exceeded our expectations. From start to finish John catered to all of our requests, and more. It was a terrible rainy day, but Johns vehicle was modern, warm and very comfortable. He is very polite, knowledgeable of the area and also the wines. Every winery we visited was perfect for our tastes and he even managed to get us a booking at a Ata Rangi wines at our request without a booking which was a great surprise. I felt the price was very reasonable considering the time John spent with us throughout the day, money very well spent. We cannot recommend his tours enough, 5 stars easy. Fantastic experience: John Barry was referred and recommended to us by some friends who had taken his tour and enjoyed it. We booked a tour of Cape Palliser and the Wairarapa region with John. We were picked up from our hotel in Wellington at the appointed time and John took us on a most enjoyable trip through the Wairarapa with a few stops in Martiborough and the Wairarapa region where we enjoyed looking at bookshops, having a cup of coffee and doing some shopping!! The trip included a pleasant lunch and glass of wine and an opportunity to see seals at close quarters. The walk to the lighthouse was memorable and the view on a windswept afternoon was worth every bit of the effort! This trip was a great opportunity to understand and experience a lot of New Zealand history, nature, and diversity. This was an exceptional experience and one we would highly recommend. What made this special was John. He is highly knowledgeable of the history and people; likeable; extremely pleasant; happy to listen and share. We learnt a lot from him, and also that we had many common interests and connections!! His attitude and service commitment are exemplary. We have no hesitation in recommending John and his company to anyone interested in exploring this beautiful region and its diversity and are sure that others will enjoy the trip with John as much as we did. Fantastic experience: Did the Martinborough Wine Tour for a special occasion with a small family group, was great to be able to enjoy the day without worrying about booking anything, deciding where to go, or volunteering someone as the sober driver! Booking with Capital Personalised Tours meant that we could explore a part of the country we aren't familiar with in comfort, and the excellent service meant everything was arranged - from lunch at Poppies to tastings at the vineyards. Would highly recommend as the best way to do Martinborough as a day trip from Wellington.

Fantastic experience: We had a great time with John who made the tour a lot more than I expected. The whole tour was super informative and fun from the instant we got in the van. The lead up to the vineyards was even worth the money you pay for. Great knowledge of Welly and greater Wellington areas. Definitely getting John for the craft beer tour next time!

Fantastic experience: My daughter and I visited Wellington last year but as it was only a brief stay, we planned a longer trip this time keen to explore other parts of the city and coastal areas we hadn’t seen. Photographers without a vehicle, it was clear we needed someone to help us explore Wellington properly and Capital Personalised Tours fit the bill perfectly! The tour was informative, great value for money and loads of fun! John was very easy to get along with and was more than happy to work in with all the places we wanted to visit. Communication was fabulous and being picked up and dropped back to our accommodation was a definite bonus. Lunch was provided at a funky restaurant and toilet stops and coffee breaks were provided when necessary. We were so impressed; we actually took a second tour a couple of days later! Had an absolute ball travelling to some of the most awe-inspiring landscape and rugged coastline of Wellington (especially seeing the seal colony) one of the highlights of our month-long tour of NZ! Awesome lunch too – crispy battered fish, chips, salad and a local beer, seated next to a roaring log fire at the Lake Ferry Hotel was divine. Be sure to check out C’est Cheese and all the bookstores at Featherstone – brilliant! Thanks again John, we loved it and will be back again soon for another tour of your beautiful city and coastline.

Fantastic experience: Had a beautiful day December 16, 2018 touring Wellington with our guide "Kelvie". He picked us up promptly as scheduled at the port, gave us a grand tour all while telling us about the history of each area that we visited. When I mentioned that my wife raised Honey Bees in the United States he surprised us by stopping at a Honey store in Wellington. We were also treated to a wonderful lunch at a local restaurant.
